Valid for the Website Builder

The IONOS Website Builder was updated in December 2024. As a result, it is no longer possible to access the previously saved files on your web space directly from the Website Builder menu. This article explains how to restore access.

Inserting files via Webspace

You have previously added files to your Website Builder project via the Content menu item. You could choose from the following sources:

  • Website Builder

  • Webspace

  • Local source

From December 2024, the Webspace source can no longer be selected. To regain access to previously uploaded files, first copy them to your computer. How to do this is described in the next section of this article.

Download previous files

  • Log in to your IONOS account.
  • In the title bar, click on Menu > Hosting.
Optional: If you have several hosting contracts, select the desired contract.
  • Click on the Use Webspace button on the Webspace tile. The Webspace Explorer opens, which you can use to upload and download files. The Webspace Explorer runs in your Internet browser and does not require any additional software.
  • Upload the files from the folder of the desired Website Builder installation to your computer. The folder name of the Website Builder usually begins with the abbreviation "wsb".

Note

Instead of the Webspace Explorer, you can use an FTP application of your choice.

Upload and select files again

Switch back to the Content menu item of your Website Builder. Use Local source to upload the files again. If you want to use these files in the future, select them via Local source.
