Importing an Image

For Cloud Servers

In this article, we'll show you how you can import one virtual machine image or one ISO image per server to use for reinstalling on existing servers or for creating new servers.

Please Note

For legal reasons, the Windows server operating systems are licensed in cloud servers according to the core license model. This also applies to Windows Server operating systems that you install using an ISO image and for which you use your own license key.

Importing an Image

Requirements

  • You are in the Infrastructure > Images section of the Cloud Panel.

  • You have created a virtual machine image. The image is bootable and is in one of the following file formats: .vdi, .qcow, .qcow2, .vhd, .vhdx, or .vmdk.

  • The maximum file size of the image is 500 GB.

  • Click Create.

  • Enter a name.

  • Enable the Import image option.

  • In the Operating system field, select the operating system of the image.

Warning

To ensure the best possible functioning of the server, always select the correct operating system or distribution.

  • In the URL field, enter the URL where the image can be downloaded.

Note

Valid file types are .vdi, .qcow, .qcow2, .vhd, .vhdx and .vmdk.

  • In the More Settings area, click View.

  • Select the desired data center.

  • Click Create.

Please Note

The final size of the image is displayed in the Images section after the import process is complete. The calculated costs are listed in the Interactive Billing section.

The image will now be imported.

Additional Information

  • If you are installing an imported CentOS 7 image, you must create a new kernel image after the installation process completes.

  • If you are installing an imported Windows Server image, you must enable the LSI_SAS controller after the installation process completes.
