Image/ISO Import - General Information

For Cloud Servers managed in the Cloud Panel

In this article, we'll provide important information you'll need when you want to import a bootable image from a virtual machine to use it for reinstalling on existing servers or for creating new servers.

Please Note

For legal reasons, the Windows server operating systems are licensed in cloud servers according to the core license model. This also applies to bootable images of virtual machines with Windows Server operating systems for which you use your own license key.

To use a bootable virtual machine image, the following steps are required:

  • Create a bootable image. The maximum size of the images/ISOs is 500 GB.

    The image must be in one of the following file formats:

    Image: .vdi, .qcow, .qcow2, .vhd, .vhdx and .vmdk

    ISO: .iso

    You can use the following programs to create the image:

    Microsoft Windows:Disk2vhd

    Linux:QEMU

  • Open the Cloud Panel and import the image.

  • Create a new server with the imported image or install the image on an existing server.

  • If you are installing an imported CentOS 7 image, you must create a new kernel image after the installation process is complete.

    If you are installing an imported Microsoft Windows Server image, you must enable the LSI_SAS controller after the installation process completes.
