Below, you will find important information about creating servers using an ISO image:
ISO images do not contain license keys
ISO images correspond to the original installation DVDs of Windows and Linux. They do not contain license keys!
Depending on the selected operating system, you need your own license key for the installation. This may have to be provided by you.
Windows Server operating systems are licensed according to the core licensing model
For legal reasons, the Windows server operating systems in Cloud Servers are licensed according to the core licensing model. This also applies to Windows Server operating systems that you install using an ISO image and for which you use your own licence key.
Use the KVM console to install the operating system
Once the server is operational, you must launch the KVM console and install the operating system on the server.
Install VMware Tools
Install the VMware Tools to ensure proper operation of your server. VMware Tools consists of a set of utilities that you install in the server's operating system.
VMware Tools and open-vm-tools
CentOS 7, CentOS Stream 8, CentOS Stream 9, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 22.04
By default, the open-vm-tools are already pre-installed in the ISO images offered by IONOS. If you use your own ISO image or an older version of an installation, the open-vm-tools may not be included. In this case, install the open-vm-tools. ISO-Images from Microsoft Windows
The VMware Tools consist of a set of utilities that you install in the server's operating system. Install the VMware Tools to ensure the proper operation of your server.
