Connecting to the Serial Console Using SSH
Please use the “Print” function at the bottom of the page to create a PDF.
For Dedicated Server and Server Power Deals managed in the server administration of the IONOS account
We will show you how to connect to the serial console of your server using the SSH client PuTTY as an example.
You can use the serial console to connect to your Dedicated Server, even if it cannot be accessed via the normal network interface.
Prerequisite:
You have noted down your username and password for the serial console.
Start PuTTY.
Under Host Name, enter the following: sercon.onlinehome-server.com
Under Connection Type, select the SSH setting.
Click on Open.
The first time you log in, a warning message appears as PuTTy does not yet know the SSH server key. Click on YES to continue with the connection setup.
The connection is established and the console window opens.
Log in with your user name and password.
You are now connected to the serial console of your Dedicated Server and can, for example, log in to the server on the command line (provided the server is ready).
Application examples for working with the serial console can be found on the Rescue and Recovery page.
