For WordPress hosting (tariffs until 26 September 2022) and web hosting (tariffs until 10 September 2024)

With CDN powered by CloudFlare, we offer you a powerful Content Delivery Network (CDN). With CloudFlare's 62 global networks, you can improve the performance and security of your website - no matter where your visitors are.

How to activate CDN powered by CloudFlare:

  • Log in to your IONOS account

  • In the main navigation, click Menu at the top left and then Hosting.

  • In the CDN area, click Open CDN Overview.

  • On the next page, click Activate CDN. If your contract includes multiple CDN packages, click Activate next to the CDN package you want to activate.
  • On the next page, select the domain for which you want to activate the CDN.

  • You will now see a list of the subdomains created for your domain. Select the subdomains for which the CDN function should also be activated.

Important
  • The CDN can only be enabled for subdomains, not the main domain, so you need to make sure that the content you want to distribute through the CDN is accessible on subdomains.
  • You cannot assign subdomains with custom DNS settings to your CDN package. Also, you cannot assign subdomains that handle things like email, FTP, or SSH traffic.
  • Adapt the settings of the CDN package to your needs. In the general settings, select the functions you want. To do this, click Edit.

    • You can use the predefined performance settings profiles to optimize the performance of your website. Select Standard, Advanced or Expert here, or click the Edit button for custom settings.

    • In the security settings, select the security profile you want, or click Edit for custom settings.

Please Note

If you have already secured your domain with an SSL certificate, you must enable the Full SSL encryption setting. You can find this option in the general CDN settings under SSL. Otherwise, after activating the CDN, you may receive the error message "Too many connections" when you access your website.

  • Click Activate.

  • To activate the CDN, confirm the general terms and conditions of IONOS and the terms of use of CloudFlare by clicking Accept and activate CDN. If you don't see the Activate button here, you have already activated your CDN package at an earlier point. In this case, click Save at the end of the settings.

Your CDN package will be activated within a few hours.

Note

The CDN is limited to a bandwidth of 50 GB. If you exceed this limit, the CDN will be automatically disabled in accordance with our terms and conditions. It can be reactivated after optimizing your website in your customer area.

If you need more bandwidth, it is worth upgrading to CDN Pro. In addition to unlimited bandwidth, you benefit from the additional optimization functions Polish (image compression) and Mirage (optimized loading of images).

Activate CDN for additional subdomains

To activate CDN for additional subdomains of your hosting package, repeat the steps above for the desired subdomains.
