Disconnect Domain from Managed WordPress
Please use the “Print” function at the bottom of the page to create a PDF.
When a domain is connected to Managed WordPress, it cannot simultaneously be used in another way. In order to reassign the domain to something else, the existing connection must be removed first.
This article will show you the necessary steps.
Explanation
Currently, a connection between a domain and a IONOS Managed Application – including Managed WordPress – cannot be automatically removed by reassigning the domain elsewhere. Buttons in IONOS that let you modify the domain destination are disabled in this circumstance.
In the next section, we explain how to disconnect a domain from Managed WordPress.
Disconnecting the Application
You can indirectly disconnect a domain from Managed WordPress by changing the domain for your website in the App Center. To do this, select the Change Domain action by the corresponding website name and select a new domain on the following page. When you switch to the new domain, the connection to the previous domain is automatically disconnected.
Please Note
If you do not have an available domain for this change, you can also create a new subdomain or use the IONOS System Domain after selecting the Change Domain option.
Log In and Manage WebsitesManage Websites
Additionally, this step-by-step guide can help you navigate IONOS.
- Click the App Center link in the left navigation bar.
- Once in the App Center, a list of your websites will be displayed.
- Click the Change Domain button next to your Managed WordPress application and choose a new domain.
Check the Results
You can verify that you have successfully changed the domain in the tile for your Managed WordPress installation in the App Center. A link to the newly selected domain is provided next to the Open Website option.
At this point, you are free to reassign the previous domain however you would like.
