Edit YouTube videos with the editor: step by step
Follow these instructions to edit videos with the YouTube video editor. Using the editor is only possible on your desktop.
Step 1: Go to YouTube Studio and sign in with your Google account. Alternatively, sign in on the official YouTube page, click on your profile picture and select “YouTube Studio” from the menu.
Step 2: Click on “Content” in the left menu.
Step 3: Click on the video thumbnail or the title of the video you want to edit.
Step 4: Open the editor on the video by clicking “Editor” on the left bar. To cut the video, click on the “Trim” button.
Step 5: YouTube makes editing simple. The blue area on the timeline indicates which parts of the video you want to keep. To remove a section, click on the beginning in the blue area and select “Split”.
Step 6: Now drag the blue bar to the end of the section you want to cut out. The selected section will then be removed by the editor. You can check the result by clicking “Preview”.
Step 7: When you are satisfied with the cut, save your changes by clicking “Save”.
Step 8: If you want to undo changes, go to “Discard Changes”. If you only want to undo one trim mark, click on the “X” above the selected area.
Cut to the second
If you want to set a trim marker to the second in the editor, you can enter the exact time where the trim marker should begin in the video. To do this, enter the time next to the “Trim” button.
